Configuring the Infinite is a suspended installation made of golden thread and lava stone beads. Built from modular hexagonal structures, the work can expand and adapt endlessly, forming a porous field of lines, knots, and suspended points.
The hexagon appears throughout natural and cosmic systems, from honeycombs and crystals to molecular formations and sacred geometries. In this work, it becomes both structure and metaphor. Each thread holds tension, each bead marks a point of gravity, and together they form a network that evokes constellations, mycelial webs, molecular diagrams, and invisible systems of connection.
Lava stone carries the memory of geological transformation. Born from fire, pressure, and cooling, it is a material of weight and earth. Suspended within the golden thread, however, it appears almost weightless. This tension between heaviness and lightness, permanence and fragility, the earthly and the celestial, is central to the work.
The making of the installation is slow and repetitive. Through tying, stringing, and configuring, the hand follows a logic that feels both mathematical and organic. The work grows through accumulation, like a natural system unfolding from a simple unit into complexity.
Rather than representing infinity as a distant abstraction, Configuring the Infinite approaches it as a process: repetition, connection, expansion, and possibility. It invites viewers to enter a suspended space where matter, energy, craft, and cosmos briefly align.
