By employing the traditional craft of lantern making, I created forms that resemble life in nature. This is based on my experience of the state of constant change in identity. In the process of growth, a temporary stage of evolution like these cocoon forms, presents a state of new life start and reborn and reincarnation. It is a self that adapts changes and growths yet aware and protected from the harsh environment. Drifting yet self contained, ready to survive and blossom in a new land with old roots are the qualities and natures of my work; and these are the natures of many immigrants. These forms are simple in their material restraint yet complex in their geometry, pliable in their porous and translucent delicacy yet possessing of tensile, internal strength.
